 Clean Fill Available for Danby Residents |

The Town of Danby Highway Department will furnish
clean fill dirt, free of charge, to Danby residents.
The dirt is for personal use only, and must be
picked up during business hours from the Department's
Hornbrook Road work site.
The supply is limited and will be provided on a
first-come, first-serve basis.
Please, Danby residents only.

Wood Chips Available for Danby Residents |
|
The Town of Danby Highway Department will furnish
wood chips clean fill dirt, free of charge, to Danby residents.
The chips are for personal use only, and must be
picked up during business hours from the Department's
Hornbrook Road work site.
You can load your own wood chips at any time during working
hours. However, if you have an open-bed pickup truck or a
tow-behind trailer, and the loader and manpower is available,
we can load them for you.
The supply is limited at times, so you may want to call
ahead to determine availability. The chips will be
provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Please, Danby residents only.

Brush Drop Off at the Highway Department |
|
Unwanted brush?
Any Danby resident may drop off unwanted brush at the
Highway Department's Hornbrook Road work site during
business hours.
Brush should be free of foreign materials such as wires and papers.
Leaves are not considered brush. Call us if you have questions.

Local Law: No Parking on the Road |
|
Local Law Number 1 of 1990 allows for the emergency
towing of any vehicle parked or abandoned on any highway
within the Town of Danby, if that vehicle hinders or
impairs the Town (or other government agency) response
to an event which requires prompt action.
The towing is at the owner's expense.

Reporting a Dead Deer on the Road |
|
To report a dead deer on a road in the Town of Danby,
please call the Highway Department.
It is important to notify the Department as soon as
possible, so that the deer may be picked up promptly
before further problems, such as decay or destruction
by dogs, sets in.
When you contact us, please be sure to leave the
following information:
- your name
- the road name and nearest house number
- the location of the deer (ditch, driveway, near mailbox, etc.)
- and a call-back telephone number
The Department may need to reach you for further information.
The Department will call in the report to the proper
highway department (county or state). The Town and
County departments usually take care of deer on their
roads the same work day, but the State contracts out
this service and may take 24–48 hours for pickup,
depending on when they are notified.
Deer are not picked up on weekends, although you may leave
a message requesting a pickup at any time on our answering
machine.

Snow Season Safety Tips |
Please keep the following safety tips in mind this winter:
- Local Law Number 1 of 1990 prohibits parking
on roadways. Please park your vehicles in your
driveway. This will allow safer and quicker snow removal.
- Please do not place garbage cans and/or recycling bins
in the way of snow removal equipment. The snowplow wing
will not hit your cans and bins if they are kept back
far enough from the shoulder of the road.
We do not want to hit them, or place snow in them, but
we will not cross the centerline of the road to avoid hitting
them, since that could endanger other motorists or our road crew.
- Do not tailgate snow removal vehicles.
Snow- and ice-covered roads can present unknown hazards.
These reminders are for everyone's safety.
